Was having an email discussion with a friend yesterday about COVID-19, pandemics, lockdowns, restrictions on rights and the necessity for quarantine.
His idea was that quarantines help prevent the spread of COVID-19. I won’t reproduce our discussion, except to note that at one point he mentioned Typhoid Mary the American woman who infected dozens of people with typhoid fever in the early part of the 20th century. Asymptomatic herself, she was very good at passing the disease on to others.
That led to her being forcibly quarantined on more than one occasion, including the last 23 years of her life. Think about that. Twenty-three years in quarantine.
I can only hope no-one tells Canada’s Prime Minister about Typhoid Mary. Just imagine how long he would make Canadians quarantine if he knew..
