Black Forest In Winter I

I’ve seen pictures from years gone by, but this was the first time I experienced it myself. In this fashion anyway.

I’ve walked through the Black Forest in winter before, but this month was the first time I was able to do so in snow. Needless to say, it was quite different.

I think Sulzburg had had about 15 centimetres of snow when I took this afternoon walk in the forest above the town. It was more snow than in the previous three winters combined, with more in the forecast.

As a Canadian I was excited. I freely admit I have missed Winter. Yes it is warmer here, but gloomy – it seems as if the sun doesn’t shine between December and March. I don’t mind cold if there is some sunshine thrown into the mix.

You can see the beauty for yourself. Though I wish it had been sunny.
