Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is accusing his political opponents of fear mongering because they are saying his new vaccine mandate imposed on truck drivers will cause supply chain issues.
The PM says forcing truck drivers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 protects Canadians. We should be thankful the government cares so much about protecting us.
The vaccine mandate went into effect on January 15. The trucking industry, already hit by a driver shortage, has said the mandate takes thousands of drivers off the road.
This will lead, they say, to empty store shelves. The Prime Minister says they are fear mongering.
After work Monday I dropped by the groicery store to pick up a few things. Guess what I saw? Empty shelves. Like I have never seen before.
Unlike the pandemic panic of March 2020, it wasn’t the staples that were missing, It was fresh meat and produce. (Maybe there were some staples missing – I didn’t look in those aisles.)
The shortage may be a coincidence. Do you think that is possible? Or was the trucking industry correct in its prediction of problems in introducing a vaccine mandate for truck drivers?
Actually there was one aisle of staples I did check, just out of curiosity. Unlike the panic of 2020, there was still lots of toilet paper.
I suppose we could always eat the toilet paper if there is no lobnger any food in the stores.

Guess we shop at different stores, I’ve had no trouble finding everything I need. Guess the 90% of truckers that are vaccinated are managing to get the shelves stocked. If there are issues with getting US goods, it’s probably due to the trucker blockade at the Alberta border.
Right. Bonnie Henry and the Left Coast are opening things up, as are many other countries that previously had strict limits, and here AH Trudeau is directly causing shortages and adding to inflationary measures.
Too bad the Conservatives don’t have a real leader.
