Sometimes you don’t notice what is right in front of your face.
After more than a year in Sulzburg I noticed for the first time this past week that the bell tower of St. Cyriak church is lit at night. It is just around the corner from our apartment, I’m sure I must have walked past a hundred times and not noticed.
I suppose it is possible that this is a recent thing, that the lights weren’t turned on before. But it is more likely that I was just oblivious.
That leaves me to wonder what else I have been missing. What have you been missing in your community?
Or is that even a fair question to ask? How do we know what we haven’t seen or heard? There’s your philosophical question for today.
