Went for an afternoon walk through one of the vineyards on the edge of town. Most of the grapes in the area have been harvested, but there were still some left on the vines.
I don’t know if those left are a later maturing variety of grape, or whether there was simply too much to harvest all at once. I’v been told that grape production was up this year, which may mean that local vintners may not have had the capacity to handle all the grapes coming in.
Whatever the reason, custom is that you can snack on the grapes as you walk – you just can’t take any with you.
