Advent Reflections
This post was first published December 19, 2015. I thought you might like to see it again. He looked round again and could hardly believe his eyes. There was the blue sky overhead, and grassy country spreading as far as he could see in every direction, and his new friends all round him, laughing. “It […]
Christmas Penguins?
It’s Christmas Eve, also the fourth Sunday of the 2017 Advent season. As I have done the past couple of Sundays, I am featuring a nativity set today. Two of them. I thought about saving one of these for Advent 2018, but I suspect I’ll find other ones to share with you next year. They […]
The Nativity Set
Today is the second Sunday of the Advent season, the day we light the second candle on the Advent wreath. I should be able to tell you what that candle signifies, but I can’t off the top of my head. When I was growing up my family didn’t do anything special for Advent. Probably had […]
Christmas Market in Lippstadt II
Just a few photo impressions today. If you need words, try yesterday’s post.
Christmas Market in Lippstadt
I have visited Lippstadt before, but always in the warmer weather. I didn’t know what to expect of their Christmas market. We had already visited the Advent Market held in the little town of Laufen, an event that matched the town for size. It was pouring rain and I didn’t take any pictures. Nor was […]
Advent 2017
It is that time of year again. Time to put op the tree and decorations in anticipation of Christmas. We won’t have a Christmas tree this year, I don’t think. I am sure i could go into the Black Forest and cut one down (though that is probably illegal), but then I would have to […]
The Advent Market
Today’s post vanished into cyberspace and I can’t recover it. There are days when I am not a fan of computers or smart phones. I’ll give you a quick recap to put these pictures into some context. Yesterday we went to an Advent Market that had been advertised on posters in every village in the area. […]
Advent Reflections
As Christmas approaches, society seems to jack up the Santa imagery, probably to help people with their shopping, but I still run across the occasional nativity scene. It is good to be reminded that Jesus is the reason for the season. I’ve come across this image in several places in the past, and today seemed […]
First Sunday of Advent…
…and nothing has really changed from last year. My daughter’s cat, who usually behaves like a dog (all the worst dog features imaginable), for some reason spends Advent thinking she is a Christmas tree ornament. I’m sure I’ll get some much better shots of her in the tree before Christmas Day arrives.
Random Thoughts For Advent
It is the last Sunday of the Advent season. Christmas is this Friday. The lack of snow and unseasonably warm temperatures are making it easier for me to filter out the distractions of the season. It doesn’t feel like Christmas. Local golf courses will be open on Dec. 25th, for the first time ever. The […]
