Wellington Street in downtown Ottawa, Wednesday afternoon. Not a truck in sight. Not many cars either – access is being strictly controlled.
To celebrate the empty street, the Prime Minister revoked his previous invocation of the Emergencies Act. Apparently the “emergency” has ended, though nothing has changed since Monday when the motion passed in the House of Commons.
Perhaps the numbers were looking bad. Not just the polling numbers – it was possible the Senate would vote against his use of the Act.
Whichever, the political and social fallout will be with us for a while.

The view this week is quite different than it was last week.
The potential of a defeat in the Senate seems to be the one factor that changed.
Power is the one factor Trudeau wants and will react to.

You are probably right.
