It has become an annual tradition. At the beginning of January I post the top ten most viewed posts here from the previous year. Maybe it is a leftover from my radio days and those end-of-year countdowns. Those posts will start tomorrow.
This year I have noticed a real difference. And it isn’t only that I published about 100 fewer posts in 2021 than I usually do. (Let’s blame the pandemic, not laziness for that one.)
For many of us 2021 was a repeate of 2020. It is as if the year never realy existed. There were lockdowns and restrictions, and, despite politicians’ promises, there was more of COVID-19 at the end of the year than at the beginning.
If vaccinations helped, and I believe they did, I shudder to think what would have happened to our world without them. Maybe complete chaos. As Aslan says, no-one is ever told what might have been.
One thing I noticed at Random Thoughts From Lorne is that posts from 2021 weren’t all that popular. Maybe it is the pandemic. I did write extensively about it, and we are all so sick and tired of it. Maybe you tuned out those posts.
Instead, what was popular were posts from pervious years, from, dare I describe them as such, more innocent times. Travel pieces hit home, when most of us were unable to travel. Humor was a big thing, as we were all looking for a little something to lighten our lives.
As we look ahead to 2022 I hope to get to my backlog of travel pieces. Even if no-one is traveling, we all like to read about it.
There will be, I suspect, a lot of politically oriented posts. Sadly, many of those will be about the mismanagement of the pandemic. I pray for the day when our leaders get things right. Not sure though if that will ever happen.
What would you like to see here in 2022? After all, this is a partnership. There is no point in my writing things you aren’t interested in reading. Let me know in the comments. (Or maybe I should do a survey once we have finished our top ten.)
Thank you for being part of Random Thoughts From Lorne. I’ve had fun being in this space. I hope you do also.
Happy New Year!
