Would anyone fall for this one? It showed up in my spam folder.

The sender? Property Management. The email address? propertymanagementnotice@gmail.com. Where is my name? What building does this apply to? I mean really, would anyone be taken in by this? Except that they must.

I presume that if you answer the email they will provide you with the information you need to e-transfer your rent. To them as opposed to your landlord.

Online scamming is getting increasingly sophisticated, especially as AI is being used by criminals to further their schemes.

Looking closely though, I wonder if this would even violate the law should you fall for it. By not identifying themselves there is really no fraud involved. If you choose to engage, despite the lack of information being provided as to why you should, the liability would fall on your shoulders. Even should they catch the perpetrators, what could police do?

Not being a tenant, I wasn’t in the slightest bit taken in by this one. I am curious though as to how many people get caught by this one.
