When i went out this morning it was drizzling. Freezing drizzle. Which then changed to snow. I was not impressed.
I’m tired of winter. Spring is here according to the calendar, but snow and ice continues to fall.
It seems like it has been longer than usual. Maybe that is a sign of my getting older and more impatient. Or maybe this has been a winter with less sunshine than normal.
Whichever it is, I am ready for it to end. I want sunshine, warm breezes and leaves on the trees. I want to put my boots in storage until November, or even December. I want to sit in the park with a book and a cool drink
Well, I could do that now if I really wanted. Reading and drinking aren’t weather dependent. But it isn’t the same when it is cold and snowy. The pages get too wet.
When we lived in Germany, I missed winter weather. Where we lived it was chilly, grey and damp. That weather too seemed to last forever. I spent my winter days wishing for snow rather than rain.
Didn’t need boots though. Or gloves. As a Canadian I realized I missed that.
Today, as the freezing drizzle came down, I wished I was back in Germany. The weather there today was close to 14 Celsius. And, on a Sunday, there’s not much I could do except to go to the park and read a book in the sunshine. Okay, it might have been too cool for just siting there, but it would be nice to enjoy the outdoors without winter clothing.
With temperatures here expected to hover around the freezing mark for the next week, I don’t see doing that soon
I am so done with this winter. Aren’t you?
