On Thursday evenings in the summer, the town of Old Orchard Beach hosts a fireworks show adjacent to the pier. It brings a late-night crowd into the downtown, much to the delight of local businesses.
I’ve always wondered if the businesses fund the fireworks display, or whether the cost is covered by the town’s tourism budget. Whichever, it must be getting costlier each year, wich may be why the show has shrunk from 15 minutes a couple of decades ago to eight minutes, then six the two Thursday we were there this summer.
Even with a short show, fireworks are always fun. Here are a few shots from my phone, just like last summer.
