Our neighbours suggested a walk in the forest in the Liliental area, about an hour’s drive from Sulzburg. Yesterday was a warm (25C) Autumn day, perfect for such an outing.
We weren’t the only ones with that idea. There were hundreds of people on the walking trails, enjoying the fall colours. The change of seasons isn’t as spectacular as in eastern Canada, but it was still nice to observe. The whole area is a forest research preserve with a wide variety of trees and wild orchids (which we were told bloom in the spring and summer).
It felt very much like a late September hike in the Ottawa area, perhaps up in the Gatineau Hills. We covered only a small portion of the trails, about 10 kilometres in three hours of rambling. Definitely worth a return visit, maybe in the Spring.
