An Interlude

Went to church in Freiburg yesterday. But that’s not what I am going to write about.

After church we had a wait for the next train home. So we wandered through the old section of Freiburg. At least I think that’s what we did – I didn’t consult a map or guidebook.

Originally, I had thought of spending the afternoon as a tourist. That was earlier in the week when the forecast called for sunshine. There was no sunshine when I was in Freiburg yesterday. I’m not sure there ever is – I’ve been there three times and gloomy has been the best description of the weather when it hasn’t been pouring rain.

Anyway, since I wasn’t being a tourist I can’t tell you what I saw because I didn’t really see anything – no museums, no churches, no sights of interest. We walked by all of those but didn’t stop at anything.

I only brought the phone out once to take pictures, and now you have them. I’m sure there is a significance to the clock tower, but I don’t know what. For some reason, after I took the pictures we changed direction so I didn’t get any closer to it. I did note that modern chain stores have adapted their display to suit what is obviously an historic building. I’ll go back at some point (if it is ever sunny in Freiburg) and take some better ones, or at least find out what it is that appears so photogenic (to me anyway). Until then, these will have to do.
