Sunrise

When you vacation in the same place each year some things become ritual. Like sunrises. I try to take a picture of the sun rising over the Atlantic Ocean at least once in my two weeks at Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

I’m a natural early riser, which is a good thing. Vacations are supposed to be a time to relax, perhaps sleep in, but if you want to get a good spot on the beach for the day you need to get down there early. So while I only took pictures on two mornings, I was there to see the sunrise every day. Once the chairs and blankets are laid out in the best spot there is no need to stay on the beach. Most people don’t – though I usually stick around for a couple of hours before breakfast, reading, playing guitar or just watching the waves.

I’m back at work today, physically anyway. I’m sure as you look at these pictures you know where the rest of me is.
