One Year Later
I have from time to time posted photos taken at one of my wife’s favourite locations in Ottawa’s urban forest, Mer Bleue. We had some time Christmas Eve afternoon before we had to leave for church, and decided to once again walk the boardwalk. It was a pleasant enough winter day, but we couldn’t help […]
Winter Wonderland
As I walked to the bus stop yesterday… …I had to take some pictures.
Today’s Date: December 22
It’s three days before Christmas. I was going to post something about Aleppo, but figured that would be depressing. Maybe next week, or early in the new year. Then I thought about doing something about Christmas shopping. The craziness of the malls, the rude crowds. But that would mean doing research, and why would I […]
Christmas Tree Decorations
You wouldn’t believe my day yesterday. Or maybe you would. Anyway, I didn’t have a chance to finish the post I had planned for today. It is the first day of winter after all. So instead I’m repeating the most popular post of last year’s Christmas season. I still immensely dislike this cat, but at […]
Just Drop the Blanket

Unthinking
Today I planned on posting the latest in the saga of the frozen locks on Canada Post community mailboxes. However, I wasn’t thinking when I finished writing the post, or perhaps I was just not paying attention. Instead of scheduling the post to run today at the usual time, I pressed “Publish” and it immediately […]
First Sunday of Advent…
…and nothing has really changed from last year. My daughter’s cat, who usually behaves like a dog (all the worst dog features imaginable), for some reason spends Advent thinking she is a Christmas tree ornament. I’m sure I’ll get some much better shots of her in the tree before Christmas Day arrives.
Family Advent Celebrations
Originally posted on Paul Anderson:
Tomorrow is the first day of Advent. For the uninitiated, Advent is celebrated in Western churches to mark the coming of Christ, and it begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas. In churches I have attended, the first Sunday of Advent involved lighting the advent wreath (which has four candles…
Psychological Test
Once upon a time there was a girl. At her mother’s funeral she met a man whom she did not know. She thought he was amazing, her dream guy, and she fell in love with him but never asked for his number and could not find him after the funeral. A few days later the […]
JJ’s Christmas
In the stores this week I noticed the Christmas music playing for the first time this year. It might have been playing for weeks already, but I may have tuned it out. I’m almost done with Christmas music for the year. I’m a programmer for a satellite music channel (heard throughout North America and I […]
