Sunday’s Thought

I saw this sign a few years ago in front of First Presbyterian Church in Pembroke, Ontario. I thought it was an apt message, so I took a photo.

I do wonder though if signs like that are as effective as they were a generation ago, Do people walking down the street today know that the “son” in this message is Jesus Christ? Are they aware that “burning later” is a reference to Hell?

The Christian message has been unchanged for two millennia: God loves us, Jesus died to save us. We need to make a choice.

How we communicate that message is up to us. The more I think about that sign, the more I wonder if it is a bit outmoded.

Any suggestions as to what would be a better way to put it?
