For some unknown reason having to do with algorithms and search engines, a lot of the people who discover this space do so though Googin’s Rocks. I have no idea why. but my previous posts of these outcrops in the Atlantic at Old Orchard Beach, Maine, are among the most viewed posts here.

I didn’t even know they had a name until I decided to post some photos here seven years ago. As a child, a teen and then as an adult, they were always just ‘the rocks.’

At low tide they are slippery but climbable, a child’s delight with small sea creatures sometimes trapped by the receding waters. At high tide the tips just show above the water.

Today’s pictures were taken early one morning last week as the tide receded. No children awake yet, but there were some seagulls looking for breakfast.
