Friday’s Question

A portion of Ottawa’s light rail system (LRT) was out of order this week due to weather conditions. This time it was freezing rain.

Other weather-related times it has been cold, heat, rain, snow and perhaps even windstorms on Jupiter. The list of “reasons” seems endless
.
And the weather closures don’t take into account for the shutdowns due to derailments, bearing issues, electrical issues, door issues or the fact that it is Tuesday.

In seven years of LRT, the perception riders have is that it has been out of service more often than it is working. That’s not true, but it feels like it.

The south line expansion opened two years late. The east and west extensions are long past their supposed opening date, with no guarantee either will open this year, despite the promises

So today’s question is: Why won’t politicians and transit officials admit they screwed up, that they have blown six billion taxpayer dollars, scrap the train system and go back to buses?

That’s not gonna happen. Is it pride? Or something else?
