The Festival

As the fall season is well underway, I find myself missing some of the things I experienced in the four years I lived in Germany, 2017-21. There were so many activities that were new to me, like the Harvest festival in teh little town of Ihringen, which took place a couple of weeks after we arrived in the area. Here’s a repeat of what I posted in October 2017.

Caught the tail end of the parade in Ihringen last Sunday. Thousands of people were lining the streets, tourists mostly as it is a small town. I couldn’t get close to the action and had to settle for some shots from farther away.

I think the throngs may be explained by the sharing of the fruits of the harvest. Those in the front row all had glasses in their hands, which were refilled by willing participants from the parade floats, which appeared to be all pretty much related to area vineyards.
