I have no artistic talent. My stick-figure drawings don’t even look like stick figures.
When I was a child, my attempts at sand castles never caused people on the beach to stop and admire. And rightly so. They were underwhelming at best.
Which is why I am impressed when I see people who can look at a pile of sand on the beach and have the vision to turn it into a temporary piece of art. What they sculpt in hours, I couldn’t manage in years, or even decades.
So today just a few pictures of sand sculptures that were created by others during my just-ended vacation in Maine. Sitting in my chair reading I watched them take shape.
I heard one man explaining how he looked at two piles of sand on the beach and and saw a hippo buried in it. Maybe so, but from the side it looks more like a horse to me.
.
Which may be why my role is to look at the sand sculptures not create them.
