I wasn’t sure whether to be depressed or impressed. As I sat in my seat for my Air Canada flight I noticed the orange bin in the overhead compartment across the aisle.
The airline has had a lot of issues with waiting times recently, not all its own fault. I took four AC flights in this month. All were varying degrees of late, from a few minutes to more than an hour. And a lot of that waiting time was spent sitting on the tarmac.
There have been plenty of news reports the past couple of years about customers being held on planes for two to four hours upon arrival at the airport. Lack of ground crew is the usual culprit. People are denied food and drink, and the mood on the aircraft can be a little tense. If you’ve flown, you understand. It feels as if you are being held against your will – becasue you are.
So, should I be impressed that they are prepared for the delay with something (hopefully) tasty to get people’s minds off the inconvenience? Or should I be depressed because they are acknowledging that delays are going to happen. I can’t decided which.
At least on that flight the delay wasn’t long enough for me to discover just what the snacks are.
