…winter is coming.
This pile of snow really isn’t snow. It is ice shavings from one of Ottawa’s arenas. I noticed it when I walked by last week.
It was a reminder though that winter is indeed coming. October is almost over and the snow could start soon. And while October snow normally melts immediately, that isn’t always the case.
Just for the record, I have no idea why I decided to write about winter today. I am attributing it to a short-circuit in my brain. I apologize if the idea of snow depresses you.
The good news is that, while the “snow” piled behind the arenas is with us year-round, snow on Ottawa streets should be gone by April. Did you find that encouraging? I didn’t think so.
So here’s some encouragement. While snow can start as early as October, I’m going to predict we won’t see any significant accumulation in Ottawa until mid-December.
If I am wrong, you should be able to get some satisfaction in telling me so. That will warm your soul if the weather turns cold.
