What would a visit to Lippstadt be without the world-famous pigs? Never heard of them? Google “Lippstadt” and “pigs” and you’ll see what I mean.
Some years finding the pigs on the Langestrasse (Long Street) can be difficult. They are mobile sculpture, and anyone who wishes can move them. I don’t know if there is a rule about them remaining on this pedestrian mall, but that seems to be where they live.
I could have taken a great picture of a child, about two-years-old I think, trying mightily to pull the pigs along, and not having much success. I didn’t snap the photo because I wasn’t sure the parents would appreciate it, and trying to explain it was for you was beyond my German capacity. I have no idea what the German is for “blog.” ( I just looked it up – it seems the person tasked with coming up with adventuresome words was off sick that day. The German for “blog” is “blog.”
Anyway, here’s a couple of photos of the pigs, without people. I could show you the selfie of me sitting on the lead one, but I’m too shy today.
Maybe next visit.
