Roman Park – III

There isn’t much left of the Roman villa that was once prominent in Heitersheim. It has been gone for about 1700 years, leaving only the foundations and cellar.

Archaeologists though know a lot about Roman construction and have a fairly good idea what the house would have looked like in its heyday. Using that knowledge there are drawings and models on display at the Roman museum in Heitersheim.

The model that drew me though was a more unusual recreation of what the villa would have looked like in its heyday – constructed with Lego building blocks. More than 32,000 pieces went into constructing this model; I thought it was worthy of a post of its own.
