Actually, it isn’t that bad, I just liked the image. As an introvert I sympathize.
For the record, people’s faces don’t annoy me. Nor does being awake. Sounds though are another matter.
Sounds especially set my nerves on age in a way they didn’t when I was younger. Maybe I am more sensitive, maybe my hearing has changed.
I still love loud concerts, but I find myself avoiding restaurants because they are too noisy. It isn’t a problem if I am dining alone, but I don’t usually dine alone in restaurants. And I like to be able to hear the person I am with.
My grandchildren can get on my nerves if they are being what I perceive as excessively noisy. They are normal kids and not particularly loud, but some days normal noise is too much for my nerves.
There is nothing I can do about the noise around us, except to ensure that I do have times when there are no people or extra noises coming my way. My wife is good at recognizing that need.
I wonder sometimes if this is normal for all of us as we age. Does everyone become more sensitive to the sounds around them as they get older?
The easiest way to answer that question is to do an online search. But I am feeling lazy today, so I thought I would ask you instead.
Got any answers for me?
