I think it is because of the heat. At least where I live. It makes the days seem longer.
Thursday does have at least one thing going for it. My local pub has chicken wings for half price on Thursday. Every four to six weeks or so I get together with a group of friends to take advantage of that special and solve the problems of the world. We’ve been meeting for about twenty years.
The conclusion you can draw from this is that the chicken wings are tasty. And that we aren’t very smart if we haven’t solved the world’s problems after twenty years of discussion.
In our defence, I would like to point out that world leaders, both elected and unelected, have a similar track record over the same time period. Why should we be expected to solve the problems the experts seem unable to address?
Tonight won’t be one of our meeting nights. I’m trying to get caught up on a bunch of things before taking a short vacation.
I realize there is a certain risk to that. If the problems of the world somehow get worse in the next few days, maybe it will be because we didn’t meet to discuss them.
That can’t possibly be true, can it? Time will tell.
