Am I the only one who was struck by the similarity between Donald Trump’s big parade of military vehicles in Washington and the the annual May Day parades that used to be a staple of the Soviet Union? The ones Vladimir Putin has moved to Victory Day?
Soldiers from all branches of the service, military vehicles to showcase the power of the technology, an air force fly past – the only thing missing in Washington will be the nuclear missiles. At least, I don’t think those will be on display.
The only surprising thing is that Vladimir Putin won’t be joining Trump on the reviewing stand.
What message does this display send to Americans? And to the rest of the world?

Stunning photos.
Of course none of them are mine – I took them off the Internet. Never been to Russia – or Washington.
