Good Neighbo(u)rs

This showed up in my Facebook feed one of those algorithm things I guess. If you don’t understand the allegory, ask yourself if perhaps you may be part of the problem rather than part of the solution.

We’ve been neighbors for years. We’ve always gotten along.

A few years back we agreed to plant some cedars between our properties.

We drew a line. The trees were planted. We both take care of them. They’re growing great.

The other day, looking from my front deck, I thought those trees would look better about four feet over. Sure that would place them in the middle of my neighbor’s driveway, but who cares.

Afterall, the line we drew was arbitrary. It’s not like we got out our land deeds. I believe my property goes over at least those four feet. It’s part of Garyland.

I told my neighbor I will be playing loud music until he agrees.

Now he isn’t being nice to me anymore. I still think his kid is nice. Him, not so much.

I’m claiming the land, not him. Our previous agreement was arbitrary, nothing was really measured. We just placed a string along the land so the trees would be planted in a neat row.

I’ve got a louder stereo than him. He tried turning his on. I turned up the volume on mine.

Some other neighbors are complaining about the noise. I’ve told them I will turn off mine when the trees are moved.

It will be a beautiful line of trees and our property will look great when we’re through.
