If you are reading this, it is likely someone taught you to read. Most of us don’t teach ourselves, but learn under the guidance of a teacher.
Today is World Teachers’ Day. As the husband of a teacher and the father of another teacher, I can appreciate the difficulty faced by those in the profession, especially this year with the challenges of COVID.
I’ve done my share of teaching myself in a minor way. Sunday School of course. And some ESL teaching, first many years ago to some Mexican students who came to Ottawa to learn English, then again about five years ago on a trip to Iraq. I know from first-hand experience how difficult teaching can be.
So today, make sure you thank a teacher for all they do. It is their day after all.
