The wandering legislators have returned to Texas. The legislature has now passed the law rewriting the 3elctoral map and creating five new electoral districts that will ostensibly deliver five more seats in Congress to the Republicans in the next election.

Republicans are hailing it as a triumph for democracy, Or at least for Donald Trump and his MAGA movement.

Meanwhile, in California, the Democratic Party Governor, Gavin Newsom, has plans to emulate his Texas counterpart. He is going to redraw the electoral map to add more seats for the Democrats.

Republicans see this as an assault on democracy. They are taking him to court to try and prevent the plan.

This is American democracy in 2025. Trying to rig the vote is good, but only if you are a Republican.
