The big game is about to kick off – do you care? I must confess I don’t.
Oh, I will watch the beginning at least. And I may cheer for Philadelphia since they have one player on their team, but whether they or Kansas City wins makes no difference to me. My guess is I’ll go to bed sometime in the third quarter.
The biggest drama seems to be whether Kendrick Lamar will perform his Grammy-winning diss track as part of his half-time show. I hear a rumor this week that Drake, the target of the song, had warned the NFL he would take legal action if they give a platform to what he sees as slander. He has already filed lawsuits against others, so the league may decide to avoid the hassle. But really, does anyone care about a spat between two rappers?
I can’t tune on for the commercials – all the good American ones aren’t broadcast in Canada, and I am too lazy to try and tap into an American broadcast feed.
With any public spectacle there’s always the possibility of a terrorist attack, but I doubt that will happen. If I want to see carnage I could watch NASCAR or the Tour de France.
So why am I tuning in? Is it FOMO, fear of missing out. No, because I miss out on so many things,
I tune in every year in the hopes of an entertaining football game. After all, this is the American championship.
Most years I am disappointed. Which is why I expect to make an early night of it. Do you think I’ll be surprised?
