My daughter wanted to do something a bit different for her birthday last year. Usually we invite family members over for birthday cake, This time she wanted to change the routine.

With our family, getting together can be easier said than done. We don’t all live in the same community, or even the same continent. A couple of years ago the four of us lived on three different continents. Now we are down to two. Next year it will be one, for a few months anyway – for the first time in a decade.

Anyway, that’s a long introduction to some of the photos taken as we celebrated her birthday. Instead of staying in Canada, we went to Egypt, which was where my son and his family were living at the time.

On the big day we went to see the pyramids and the Sphinx. Needless to say, it was a memorable birthday. For a year I’ve been telling myself that I really should post some pictures from that trip.

Today, just the Sphinx – with a pyramid or two in the background. But there will be more coming from Egypt in 2024.
