It is Friday. which is the day the New York Times puts a news quiz online. Eleven questions on events of the past week.
I’m sure there’s a reason there are 11 questions, not 10, but I haven’t asked. I make sure to take the quiz each Friday, to see how well I have absorbed what is going on around me.
I usually score pretty highly, but have noticed a pattern of sorts in the answers I get wrong. Usually they have something to do with entertainment.
I’m not embarrassed if I don’t know the name of Taylor Swift’s latest boyfriend. After all, it may have changed while I wasn’t looking. I do wonder though why those questions are considered “news,” though I guess for some people Taylor Swift’s boyfriend is more important than war in Gaza.
Today I had ten questions right, one wrong. Having learned from my mistake, now that I know the name of Paris Hilton’s second child.
I’m still wondering why I would care.
