Which Would You Choose?
I could say much more on this topic, but this is one of times when the picture really is worth a thousand words. As the cliche says, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Yes, life isn’t always easy – but giving up is.
Winter Wonderland?
It is only October. It isn’t supposed to snow yet. At least not in Ottawa. This snowfall will all melt away, but it is a reminder that winter is coming. I’m not ready for it. I don’t think anyone ever is. Still, it looks pretty.
The Festival
As the fall season is well underway, I find myself missing some of the things I experienced in the four years I lived in Germany, 2017-21. There were so many activities that were new to me, like the Harvest festival in teh little town of Ihringen, which took place a couple of weeks after we […]
Say It Ain’t So
The evidence, including a birth certificate looks pretty conclusive. Buffy Saint-Marie, indigenous Canadian icon, is apparently no more indigenous than I am. For six decades she has been a well-known singer-songwriter, winner of multiple awards, and supposedly she’s not who she says she is. I must admit, I am a little surprised. At the same […]
One Last Time…

Hopefully in the near future I’ll get my rhythm back and some of the posts I have been working on will show up here. Maybe when the rain stops.
Ceasefire?
There are increasing calls for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, or at least a humanitarian pause to allow the smooth flow of aid into Gaza. As I write this, jets are still pounding targets and there is no indication Israel is interested in stopping their activities, even as they refrain from ground troops moving […]
Five Reasons To Smile
Looking at the world, I decided we’d stay on the lighter side today.
Reaping The Whirlwind
This could be the end of Hamas. It depends on whether Israel’s collective rage is tempered by world opinion. If the leaders of the group that governs Gaza cared about their people they would not have attacked Israel in the fashion they did two weeks ago. Killing thousands of civilians and taking hostages, instead of […]
Is America Broken?
You probably have noticed that there are crises everywhere you turn these days. Wars and rumors of wars, fires, earthquakes and other natural disasters. Apparently the US House of Representatives missed the memos. At a time when the world needs leadership, America’s Congressmen are staring at their navels and playing political games. Such things aren’t […]
