My father-in-law was a storyteller. He’d lived in India, the Middle East and Europe. He could tell tales of politicians and royalty from the early twentieth century whose paths he had crossed in various circumstances.
He also mentioned occasionally that he had been a choirboy at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London when I was young. Given the age of the choirboys when I was there in May, I figure that his stint there was about 1911.
Remembering that, I attended a morning service at St. Paul’s. I had seen the place as a tourist in 1986, but hadn’t, I don’t think, joined the congregation for worship.
Today I’m going to let some pictures of the exterior of St. Paul’s tell our story. It is an impressive building and well worth the visit when you are in London. Of course, unless you are in London for at least a month you are almost sure to miss some of the highlights. Even then you might not be able to visit all the best sites.
