My friend Carolyn, who had a hit a few decades ago (my how time flies) with a song called “Seize The Day,” posted the image above. Apparently it has been floating around the internet for a while and people keep sending it to her.
I too have days when I realize it was probably a mistake to sally forth to tilt at windmills. Instead of seizing the day I should have abandoned it to itself and gone back to bed.
Of course, by the time I come to that realization the day is at least half over, so I Just push on, abandoning the Latin carpe deum, or “seize the day,” for another Latin phrase, Illegitimi non carborundum.
